A 2-0 VICTORY for Semington Magpies at home to Westbury United Reserves not only saw them chalk up their first three-pointer of the Division One campaign but also earned them a third straight victory over Marc Lanfear’s side, who played their part in what was an entertaining contest.

After a goalless first half, Westbury had the chance to opening the scoring, having been awarded a penalty, but Nick Taylor fired it into the hands of Magpies' keeper Nick Mead, who produced a number of fine saves to help his team to victory.

Rich Allum scored both goals for Magpies. His first saw him curl an excellent free kick into the bottom corner and his second in the final minute was a carbon-copy as another well-placed free kick sealed victory for Bobby Mitchell’s side.

Stockton & Codford faced a potentially tricky visit to a Hilperton United side desperate to return to winning ways after last week’s 7-5 loss to Warminster Reserves.

From a goal-fest the previous weekend Hilperton were involved in a rare goalless draw as both defences’ came out on top in a match that saw Stockton’s Jason Povey and Sam McKenna both denied a winner by the woodwork.

Last season’s champions Luxol St Andrews hosted basement side Heytesbury who had shipped 18 goals in their previous two league outings and although Luxol claimed the victory, their 3-0 win was a lot closer than most people had predicted.

Goals either side of half time from Josh Hard on 40 minutes and Elliot Carris-Smith in the 50th minute put Luxol 2-0 up before Sam Clarke made it 3-0 10 minutes from time.

Kieran Hard had the chance to add a fourth for Luxol, but missed an 89th minute penalty.

Having already taken his Melksham Town A side to one of his former club's this season, Dave Jenkins went up against another when they faced off against Trowbridge Town Reserves.

Once again Jenkins led his team to victory, as a 4-0 success saw Melksham to the top of the table, a point clear of former leaders Stockton.

Paul Gittins started the ball rolling, Rob Manning, Sean Fordham, and Luke Turvey who lashed home a stunning 18-yard volley shared the other goals which all came in the first half.

Westbury Town can’t seem to buy a league win at the moment. Last term's Division Two winners remain winless following their 2-1 defeat at last season’s runners up Warminster Town Reserves, whose latest success moves them up to forth in the standings.

Matt Dyer’s 20th-minute effort for Warminster was cancelled out by Ben Howlett’s debut goal for Westbury.

With chances coming and going at both ends it was Warminster who grabbed what proved to be the winner when Brendan Hind netted for 2-1 in the final 15 minutes.

Freshford United kept their dreams of Somerset Junior Cup success alive as the cup winners of 2011 came through a tough tie at Perry Street & District League side South Petherton 2-1.

South Petherton went into the clash unbeaten in their eight matches to date, but a determined Freshford side ended that run with goals from Fynn McCarthy-Driver and Steve Roddy.
