A PATCHED up Melksham Town side secured their fifth win on the bounce on Tuesday night as they held on for a 2-1 win against Hallen.

Two goals in two second-half minutes secured all three points for the visitors as they extended their lead at the top of the Premier Division to four points.

Gary Higdon’s spot kick in the 50th minute was followed up by a Luke Ballinger strike just a minute later as Melksham took control of a game they dominated.

However, Joshua Digby scored with five minutes remaining to create a tense finish.

“It was a very frustrating night because we created so many chances,” said Perrin.

“We possibly should have scored seven or eight goals but you have got to give Hallen credit, they dug in and kept working.

“We went 2-0 up and the floodgates really should have opened but a bit of waste from us and they pull a goal back with five minutes to go and it becomes a bit of squeaky bum time.

“We were delighted with the three points and we move onto the next game.”

However, the last two games have taken their toll on the Melksham squad, with assistant manager Keiran Baggs being taken to hospital with a dislocated shoulder.

Jake Hiscocks and Ben Thompson, ankle and knee respectively, are also both set for lengthy spells on the sidelines, leaving Perrin with limited resources for tomorrow’s FA Vase clash with New College Swindon, which will be played at Devizes Town’s Nursteed Road ground.

“The volume of games have caught up with us,” added The Conigre boss.

“We are just out on our feet and the boys have got nothing to give but we have got to go again on Friday night.

“All credit to the players, to keep going and pick up the points they have is phenomenal but we’re certainly feeling the price of it now.

“After Friday, we’ll have eight days rest and the boys won’t be doing anything.”
