KEV Bridgeman felt the 3-2 victory over Warminster Town that returned Malmesbury Victoria to the top of the Toolstation League First Division was full merited - even if the decisive moment was somewhat fortunate.
Newcomers Vics climbed back on top of the pile on Tuesday night, fighting back from two goals down courtesy of Jamie Packer's double before a late own goal earned the points.
The Vics' interest in the FA Vase was ended by a 3-0 defeat at AFC Stoneham on Saturday and Bridgeman was pleased to see a response to that setback.
"We didn't panic when we were two down and we knew that if we stayed a bit patient the goals would come,'' he said.
"We controlled maybe 70 per cent of the game after Warminster scored.''
Devizes Town were unable to make ground up the table after they were thumped 4-1 by Radstock Town on Tuesday, Jamie Walters netting for the Wiltshire side.
Calne Town are due in action again tonight as they travelled to Oldland Abbotonians, as were Corsham Town and Chippenham Park, who are going to Hengrove Athletic and Roman Glass St George respectively.
