THANKS to a 5-2 victory, Hilperton United got the better of fellow villagers Heytesbury to claim their first win of the new campaign in Division One.

Heytesbury led on 10 minutes thanks to Leigh Kennedy who netted after good work from Bradley Edwards.

Deep in first-half injury time Nathan Glass headed home an equaliser for Hilperton.

Heytesbury regained the lead on 54 minutes when Edwards claimed his second of the assist of the afternoon to gift Ollie Nash his scoring opportunity.

A brilliant free kick from Paul Ranger in the 71st minute got Hilperton back on level terms and a few minutes later a Kieran Fereday penalty put them 3-2 in front.

Goals from James Clifford and Steve Ball in the final 10 minutes wrapped up Hilperton’s win.

Melksham Town A took maximum points from their opening day encounter with Semington Magpies and Dave Jenkins' side made it two wins on the spin thanks to a 3-2 triumph over a Potterne side, who played much of the game with 10 men after they had George Bettles sent off.

Rich Hudson opened the scoring for Melksham and Jordan Kirk made it 2-0 after Bettles had missed a penalty for Potterne.

Bettles then saw red, but a spirited fightback saw them grab a lifeline before half time, Joe Merritt netting for the villagers.

Despite being a man down, Potterne restored parity through Steven House and it looked as if they may claim a share of the spoils. But with five minutes remaining Corey Overend struck the winner for Melksham.

Westbury United Reserves made the short journey to Stockton & Codford looking to build on last weekend’s opening day victory over Trowbridge Town Reserves, while the hosts were aiming to chalk up their first ever win in the league having played in the Sainsbury League for many years.

As expected it was the hosts who emerged victorious thanks to a comfortable 6-1 win.

Ashley Caws saw his opener for Stockton cancelled out by Marc Scammell, but after that Westbury fell asleep as Stockton scored four goals in a 20 minute period.

Nick Sleeman struck twice, Caws added his second of the afternoon and Mark Bailey made it 5-1 at the break.

Stockton’s sixth of the game came from Joe Martin whose cross into the box from the half way caught everyone out as it sailed straight into the empty net.

After narrow defeats on the opening day both Trowbridge Town Reserves and Semington Magpies were looking to chalk up their first points of the season when they met at Christie Miller.

But after a thrilling 90 minutes both teams had to settle for a share of the points following a 2-2 stalemate.

Trowbridge started brightly and after opportunities for Jason Truckle and Simon Parfitt it was Anthony Cover who grabbed his second of the season with a great goal to make it 1-0 on 14 minutes.

Sam Malone fired Semington back on level terms on 28 minutes and, in the 37th minute, Rob Biggs gave Semington a 2-1 half time advantage. Both teams cancelled each other out in the second half, but with the introduction of substitutes Levi Wood, Tyler Dagger and Dean Mathieson Trowbridge were given a new lease of life and they managed to grab an equaliser when Simon Parfitt made it 2-2.

Bobbie Cunningham, now in charge of Westbury Town, was looking to put a dent in Luxol St Andrews early season fine start, but although he didn’t get the result he wanted his new-look Westbury side gave a good account of themselves before suffering a 6-3 defeat against the early leaders.

Shavon Allen scored the opening two goals for Luxol, Rob Youens halved the arrears only for Josh Hard and a third from Allen to put Luxol 4-1 up prior to Jake Samuels getting a second for Westbury.

Allen took his tally for the game to four when he put Luxol 5-2 ahead.

Westbury claimed a third via Jamie Parlour but it was to count for nothing as Ben Ryder completed the scoring for Luxol with a delightful chipped finish from 30 yards to make the final scoreline 6-3.

Not being allowed to enter the Wiltshire Junior Cup, Freshford United, who have reached the final for the last two seasons, were hoping for another good cup run in the Somerset Junior Cup .

A trip to Weston Super Seagulls saw them begin their quest for more cup glory with a 4-0 victory.

Leading 1-0 at the break courtesy of a Phil Little goal which came via a Gavin Eyre assist they cruised to victory with three second-half goals.

Nick Ross helped himself to the next two following good work from Andy Backman and Phil Little. The latter then sealed victory with a great individual finish.
