Bush seeking a new challenge

FORMER Corsham Town manager Colin Bush is "open to offers" as he looks for a new challenge before the start of the season.

Along with assistant John Woods, coach John Bolland and physio John Lock he left the Southbank two weeks ago saying they couldn't take the club any further after winning the Toolstation League Premier Division championship.

Now the four want to get back into club management as soon as possible.

"It was always the intention to look for a new challenge and we are in the market for another job," said Bush.

"I have been involved in football for as long as I can remember and have always be in a very successful position.

"The next club we go to will get the same commitment we gave at Corsham, whether it is a Toolstation First Division club or a Southern Premier League one.

"We are a proven package and would rather start the season with a club, but if it doesn't happen then we will wait. If any chairman wants to ring us then we are open to offers."

The former Chippenham Town assistant is still tinged with regret and frustration about the inability of Corsham to be promoted to Southern League Division One South and West.

It would have cost them an estimated £80,000, money which the club doesn't have.

Bush, who won Toolstation manager of the year, said: "To go from nothing to being a Southern League side would have been awesome. If we had been a step above the local clubs and one below Chippenham it would have been one hell of a thing to look forward to.

"We had progressed as far as we could at Corsham but the players achieved greatness in the last two or three seasons.

"The bond being champions will be with them forever."

Ex-Biddestone manager Graham Learmonth has been appointed as his successor and Bush wishes him well.

"I don't know what Leo's aspirations are, he needs to be given time to settle it down," said the 52-year-old. "People forget, out of the 120 years of Corsham's history this has been the greatest and everyone needs to be patient.

"Talk of relegation and survival is very negative from a team who are champions."
