MELKSHAM Town A’s 4-3 midweek victory over Westbury Town as good as secured them the Division Two runners-up spot, with only Calne Eagles being able to stop Barry Holloway’s side from claiming automatic promotion to the top flight.

For that to happen, Calne had to to win by 18 clear goals. Although they won 7-3, the hosts never really had a chance of hitting the goals they required to leapfrog Melksham for second spot.

Adam Welch top scored for Calne with four of the seven which took his tally for the season to 19, which would have been a lot more had United FC, Trowbridge Wanderers and Aces Reserves not withdrawn during the campaign.

Mickey Taraskevics, Ned Edney and a Kurt James own goal made up the winners' tally.

Will Steed, Joe Clayton and Kieran Mills were on target for Melksham.
