CORSHAM Town Football Club have released a statement following a committee meeting last night.
Statement from Corsham Town Football Club 04/06/2007
LAST week we were disappointed to receive the resignation of our first team manager, Colin Bush. The committee of Corsham Town Football Club would like to thank Colin for his unprecedented achievements during his period in charge of the club. Colin's team surpassed the committee's expectations and they peaked with last season's historic Premier League title win. We wish him the best of luck in the future.
Last season was only our third year in the top flight of the Western League and the committee is still focused on consolidating its status as a Premier League club. During Colin's reign as manager the club has keep its feet firmly on the ground and worked within a sustainable budget, enabling Colin to get the players he wanted but never threatening the club existence.
We are continually looking at the facilities at The Southbank and the improvements needed to progress up the football pyramid. We have every ambition to progress as a club, as we have shown over the last 14 years, progressing from the second division of the Wiltshire League to where we are today.
The next step will be taken on our own terms when we feel the club is ready for that step and a number of questions will have to answered before making that decision, not least the financial implications and the approval of our landlords, the Methuen Estate.
Despite continuing financial pressures the committee has agreed a sizeable playing budget for next season which we feel will enable the new manager to consolidate the clubs position. Football clubs go in cycles and we know that we have reached the top of ours for the time being, a new manager will need time to rebuild the squad and we are not expecting him to match the last few seasons achievements, especially with the likes of Truro City in our league.
The committee is currently compiling a short list of managers that they would like to see take the club forward, with an emphasis on working with existing players and tapping into the wealth of talent currently playing in our Reserve and Youth teams. Anyone who would like to express an interest in the position should contact the club secretary Richard Taylor on 07944 183 973. Further contact details can be found on the clubs website.
