CALNE Town were made to pay for an abject first-half performance as they were thumped at home by county rivals Warminster Town.

Warminster broke the deadlock after 10 minutes when a sloppy back-pass to Calne keeper Rob Pocock was pounced on by Jack Miluk to slot home.

The hosts tried to press but were hit with a sucker-punch when Miluk got his second of the game after Pocock could not hold an initial effort.

Warminster were now rampant and moved three goals to the good before the break when Charlie Walton hit the net.

Calne came out in the second half with more determination and gave themselves a glimmer of hope just after the hour mark when Mark Dolman sent a free-kick towards the back post, Kris Beasley headed back into the box, and Steve Allison was on hand to force it over the line.

However, Calne’s race was run five minutes later when Allison went from hero to zero after being given his marching orders for retaliating to a foul.

  • Devizes end with a defeat

DEVIZES Town were unable to haul themselves out of the bottom three in their final match of the season as they were beaten narrowly at Almondsbury UWE.

Victory for Darran Walters’ men would have seen them leapfrog Roman Glass St George and finish fourth-from-bottom but it was not to be for Devizes in Bristol as a hat-trick for Daniel Lane secured the points for the home side.

The Nursteed Road outfit were always up against it at the Field as they were already two goals in arrears at half-time.

Although Devizes battled back in the second period, they were unable to claim a share of the spoils.

Town will hold their end-of-season presentation evening on Saturday, starting at 7pm at Nursteed Road, with supporters welcome.
