PEWSEY Vale ended a run of nine games without a point as they battled to a 4-3 win away to Hythe & Dibden.

A hat-trick from Liam Wier and a strike from Michael Martin handed Adi Holcombe’s side a much-needed three points to move them clear of bottom side East Cowes Victoria with a game in hand.

That result was the perfect tonic to Pewsey’s ninth defeat on the bounce on Saturday when they fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Fleet Spurs.

The hosts took the lead going into the break when Danny Horwood was able to lob the advancing Fleet goalkeeper in the 42nd minute.

However, Pewsey were unable to hold onto their advantage in the second half as Tom Chillery had the visitors back on level terms when his deflected shot got the better of Vale stopper Louie La Touche.

Sam Knowles struck on the hour mark for Fleet when he lobbed the goalkeeper to ensure the three points returned to Hampshire.
