FOR a second successive season Trowbridge & District League outfit Freshford United suffered Wiltshire Junior Cup Final heartache.
After losing 4-2 against Alderbury FC last year, another Salisbury League side denied Chris Birleson’s side the prized piece of silverware, Jayson Stokes' Stockton & Codford claiming a 4-2 win after extra time to lift the trophy they won in 2012.
Stockton had the better of the first half and led 2-0 at the break, Sam Dufosee opening the scoring on 15 minutes and then adding his second in the 35th minute to give his team a comfortable half-time advantage.
Stockton were again strong in the second half and should have been out of sight when Freshford managed to turn things around and get back on level terms.
Jason Povey reduced the arrears on 75 minutes and just four minutes later Nick Ross fired home to make it two apiece and take the contest to extra time.
Stokes reclaimed the lead for Stockton when he headed home just before the end of the first period of extra time and the victory was sealed by substitute Liam Gibbens.
