THE battle of Beversbrook between second and third-placed sides Luxol St Andrews and Potterne FC went the way of the latter whose 3-2 triumph saw them close the gap on their opponents to one point and moved them to within sixof Division One leaders Warminster Town Reserves, who they have yet to play.

For Luxol, who trailed 3-0 at half time, the result was a setback to their own title chances, but in what has so far been a topsy turvey they shouldn’t be written off.

Tom Lye and a double for Wayne House put Potterne in change, however things changed in the second half when a hailstorm for the teams off the pitch.

Once they returned Luxol got themselves back in the game thanks to a couple of goals from Mark Reynolds, however they weren’t enough to stop them losing for a third time this campaign.

White Horse FC travelled to near neighbour’s Heytesbury looking to build on last week’s victory over Freshford United.

Heytesbury, who have lost their way of late with just one win from their last seven games, beat their opponents 4-2 back in October.

On this occasion both teams settled for a share of the spoils following from what was described as an uneventful goalless draw.

With neither team really threatening the opposition’s keeper, the closest either team went to claiming victory was in the 88th minute, when Heytesbury’s Shaun Tarr had a goal ruled out for offside.

With no win from their prior seven matches Hilperton United hosted Aces FC looking to bring an end to their unwanted run.

The visitors to Whaddon Lane had failed to win any of their previous six outings, so something had to give and it was the hosts who emerged triumphant thanks to a 4-1 win.

Hilperton led 2-0 at the interval, Alfie Francis scoring both of the villagers’ goals.

Dan Hatcher pulled a goal back for Aces at the start of the second half with a 20-yard left footed drive, but any thoughts of a comeback were ended when Nathan Smith scored from a corner to make it 3-1 and Sam Stevens planted home his team's fourth to wrap up a much-needed victory for his side.
