PEWSEY Vale’s goal drought stretched to a fourth game as they suffered a double defeat against the top two sides in Division One this week, although the fact they kept the games close on each occasion should be a source of comfort.

Goals from Tyler Brockway and Kieran Stephens kept second-placed Amesbury Town in the hunt for the title on Tuesday night with a 2-0 success over Adi Holcombe’s men at Ball Road.

Pewsey had earlier drawn a blank on Saturday when they went down 1-0 away at league leaders Portland United, with an own goal from defender Charlie Ward proving to be decisive.

Holcombe’s side are also due to travel to United Services Portsmouth tomorrow night and Tadley Calleva on Saturday.
