CHIPPENHAM Park chief Dave Ferris could not be too frustrated at his side’s failure to hold onto a two-goal lead in Division One as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw away at Keynsham Town on Friday night.

Park struggled to get a side together for the trip to Bristol and defied the odds to lead at the break through Garry Lock.

The most unlikely of wins looked on the cards when Mark Robinson made it 2-0 soon after the restart but Keynsham’s fresher legs began to tell.

They cut the deficit through Sam Duggan before Ben Harris’ deflected effort earned the home side a share of the spoils.

Ferris said: “We couldn’t have started any worse as we struggled to get a team. We only had nine fit players and the other two were like the walking wounded.

“It was probably one of our best performances of the season considering that. I couldn’t have been prouder of the lads.

“Keynsham are a good side - one of the better ones we have played this year. When you are 2-0 up, you expect to see the game out but, given the circumstances, I can’t ask for any more from my team.

“In the last 10 minutes we had a few chances to get a winner, whereas I think they only had one, but on reflection, maybe a draw was probably a fair result.”

Park have no game this weekend and are next in action when they travel to Wellington on Wednesday night.
