CALNE Town made it three wins on the spin in Division One when they routed Radstock Town 4-0 at Bremhill View.

The victory continues Calne’s excellent run of form, with Neurin Jones’ men having won seven of their last 10 games to climb up to eighth in the table.

“I’m very pleased, it was a really good result. We had been struggling against the teams around us but something seems to have clicked recently,” said Jones.

“We’ve had some good wins but this is the best so far. I think we’ve only lost two in the last 10.

“We had a good December then we had a few weeks off around the New Year period and lost the first game back but since then we have won three in a row.”

Although they were more than comfortable on the scoreboard, there was more than just a slice of luck about Calne’s opener, with Tom Boakes seeing a deep cross fly straight into the back of the net five minutes before half-time.

But from there it was one-way traffic and further goals from Stuart Windsor, Rory Worthington and Boakes’ second in stoppage time saw Jones’ men romp home.

“Our keeper, Steve Allison, made a superb save in the first 10 minutes and if that had gone in then you never know what might have happened,” added Jones.

“We didn’t into the game for half an hour but then Tom Boakes sent in a cross which sailed straight in to put us 1-0 up at half-time.

“Steve had to make another good save early in the second half but after that there was only one team that looked like winning.

“All the goals we scored were excellent, there wasn’t a bad one amongst them. It was an excellent performance from the boys.”

Calne face one of their mid-table rivals this weekend when they host Wells City and Jones is hoping his side can continue their excellent form and avenge the defeat they suffered at the hands of the Somerset side back in August.

Jones said: It should be a tight game. When we played them earlier in the season down there they beat us 4-2 but that was the second game of the season.

“We don’t seem to have a problem against the top teams, it’s beating the teams around us that we haven’t been so good at so if we can do that on Saturday it’ll be a big help.”
