WITH their own pitch at the Beeches unplayable, Melksham Town A were thankful to opponents AFC Bradley who switched their second division fixture to their Southwick Road pitch.

Like the first game, that Melksham won their 7-0, the points went to Barry Holloway’s side once more, thanks to a 8-1 success.

Holloway was indebted to a number of Melksham’s U18s who between them scored six of the goals, one of the youngsters being Rhys Talmash who scored the first two and completed a first-half treble after Dan Mercer had pulled a goal back for Bradley.

After the break Talmash took his tally to seven in two games with a fourth of the afternoon.

Kai Bush and Zac Hillier, also part of the U18 set-up, got their names on the scoresheet and along with a Jake Sainsbury double they completed victory for a Melksham side who were clinical in front of goal.

Trowbridge Town Reserves' first outing since early December saw them grind out a 3-1 triumph at basement side Aces Reserves.

Trowbridge, who missed a host of scoring chances, took the lead on 17 minutes through Gavin Francis. Ashley Poms made it 2-0 in the 24th minute, but they had to wait until the 75th minute before adding their third which came from Dean Mathieson.

Craig Perry scored Aces' consolation in the 84th minute.

Calne Eagles twice came back from a goal down to claim a scrappy 3-2 victory over The Stiffs.

The Stiffs, who have been showing an improvement in form of late, opened the scoring after 20 minutes through top scorer Steve Lewin, who finished well from 10 yards out after the home side had enjoyed a period of pressure.

Lewin also thought he had doubled his side’s lead five minutes later when he confidently beat Calne keeper Andy Windsor following a free kick, but was narrowly adjudged to have strayed offside.

Five minutes before half time Calne Eagles equalised from the penalty spot after a highly-disputed foul on their striker Mickey Taraskevics.

Calne 's Ned Edney made no mistake from the spot to take the teams’ into half on level terms.

Early in the second half The Stiffs once again took the lead when the impressive Steve Lewin headed home a Darren Brewer corner for his and his team’s second goal.

With 30 minutes left Calne brought on sub Barry Forster and this change appeared to help turn the flow of the game in their favour.

They equalised with 20 minutes left, when after a period of sustained pressure, a teasing cross from centre back Matt Bowery was headed home by Taraskevics.

Despite being the better team in the second half Calne were gifted a winner, with only eight minutes left on the clock Stiffs defender Jason Harvey let a long pass up field from Calne sub Ayden Knowler bounce behind him, believing the ball would carry through to his keeper.

Unfortunately for The Stiffs, Calne top scorer Adam Welch showed great poaching instinct by nipping in and rounding the goalkeeper to score his team’s winner and gain a valuable three points.

Leaders Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves dropped two vital points after they were held to a goalless draw by third placed Luxol St Andrews Reserves.

In a game of very few clear-cut chances the best probably fell to Luxol’s Ryan Godridge who had the chance to win it for his side at the end after Wanderers had been reduced to 10 men when Jamie Dennison picked up his second booking of the game.
