WITH Westbury Town in Knockout Cup action, Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves picked up the point they needed to reclaim pole position from their rivals in Division Two.

An 11-0 win for Mark Hurkett’s side over basement side Aces Reserves saw Wanderers open up a three-point gap at the summit.

But with Westbury having played three fewer games than the new pacesetters, their lead could be short lived.

Mark Maguire top scored with a five-timer, Ashley Styles netted a hat-trick, Steve Bryant scored twice with Toby Munday’s first-ever goal for Wanderers making up their 11.

The last time The Stiffs and AFC Bradley met goals from Steve Jackson and David Sykes helped the latter grind out a narrow 2-1 win over Ade Giles men.

The Stiffs can count themselves unlucky for a second time as missed chances came back to haunt them as despite dominating for much of the game they suffered a disappointing 3-2 loss from a game they could and should have won.

Stiffs had a chance to score before and after Dave Carroll put them in front on 32 minutes but they failed to take them and although having the upper hand for the opening 60 minutes they conceded an equaliser when Tim Richards stabbed home following a goalmouth scramble.

Wanderers then stole the lead with Elliot Blanks netting from a Connor Wordley cross.

Wanderers dealt their hosts a cruel blow when Dan Mercer picked up a ball from Matt Rusling, beat two players and fired in for 3-1.

Carroll struck his second and the Stiffs second late on, but by then Bradley had done enough to deny the home team any points from a game that they deserved to get something from.
