WARMINSTER Town Reserves remain on top of Division One after a 1-0 victory at former leaders Aces FC saw them open up a three-point gap at the summit.

Played in dreadful conditions at the Sullis Club, which saw neither team able to play any meaningful football, the match was won in the second half when Shaun Sheppard bagged the only goal of the game to hand Warminster their seventh win of the season.

Fresh from the County Junior Cup success last week against Ramsbury FC, Heytesbury hosted Semington Magpies and they continued where they left off from claiming a 3-1 victory over their guests which saw them move into fourth place in the standings.

Heytesbury broke the deadlock on 17 minutes through Shaun Tarr and they doubled their lead in the 35th minute, Kieron Edwards heading home to make it 2-0 and Ashley Caws playing a major part in both goals.

The home team added a third on 78 minutes, a Kieron Edwards cross was flicked onto Brendan Hind by Joe Martin and Hind bagged his first of the season to ended Semington hopes of getting back in the game.

Richard Hudson did score a late consolation for the visitors but it was a case of too little, too late as Heytesbury had the game already won.

Bottom of the table Westbury United Reserves visited Hilperton United hoping to end their seven-match losing run,.

However once again Marc Lanfear’s youngsters were beaten, a 4-2 win for the home side coming after Westbury had taken an early lead.

Ben Macey’s opener for Westbury was cancelled out by Ben Smith, goals from Jake Samuel and Rhys Talmash who was making his debut for the villagers made it 3-1 before Macey got Westbury back in the game with his second of the afternoon.

Hilperton had to withstand further pressure from Westbury in the second period as they hunted an equaliser, but against the wind and rain at Whaddon Lane they couldn’t find it and it was left to Jake Samuel to seal victory for the home team with his second of the game.
