This seasons Fair Play Games were once again held at Boscombe Down over the weekend. The inclement weather didn't dampen the spirits of the winners and runners up of each game.
The honours are earned not only by the good sportsmanship of the players but also by their parents and spectators and during each presentation the teams were reminded of this and invited to give them a round of applause and all gladly obliged.
The games were to mark each team's achievement and to present both winners and runners up with medals and prizes.
This season's prizes were given a boost with vouchers from Umbro. The winners received £400 worth of vouchers with the runners up receiving £150.
Several of the clubs in the final were there to celebrate more than one honour including White Horse Juniors, Bradford Town Youth, Chippenham Town, Marlborough Town and Trowbridge Town Youth. Honours also went to Westbury Youth, Pewsey Vale, C.T.C., Melksham Park, Amesbury Juniors, Biddestone FC and Bromham who won the under 13s having won the award two years ago at under 11s.
Making presentations over the weekend were League Chairman Richard Laver, Vice Chairman Maurice Chilcott, League Secretary Shirley Brigham, Results Secretary Paul Smith and Discipline Secretary Al Mundy, who is also Secretary of Amesbury Juniors who hosted the weekend providing all facilities, including a BBQ and hot drinks which were most welcome.
The final game of the weekend was played between winners Bradford Town Youth Blue and Mr Mundys team, Amesbury Juniors. The game was refereed superbly by Roger Perkins from Bath, this seasons overall winner of the Barry Kinghorn Memorial Shield. Mr Perkins had attained the highest overall marks throughout the season. The Shield and trophy were awarded to Mr Perkins by Vice Chairman, and Refereeís Secretary, Maurice Chilcott.
This weekend will see the Leagues Grand Finale with their League Cup Finals hosted once again by Melksham Town. Anyone wishing to attend the weekend can be sure of some excellent football by some of the finest young talent in the County.
