WITH the weather claiming all Division Two fixtures bar the one at The Beeches between AFC Melksham and Calne Eagles, it was a credit to both teams that the game went ahead at all.

Melksham eased to an impressive 4-0 win over Calne, who were somewhat below-par.

Melksham had the game wrapped by half time when they opened up a 3-0 lead.

Melksham had an early scare when Calne's Mickey Taraskevics ran across his marker to latch onto an Adam Welch cross but somehow the goal was disallowed for offside.

However, once Melksham's Jordan Evans opened the scoring after 12 minutes when he ran onto a Sean Fordham lay off, the result never really looked in doubt.

James Dark doubled Melksham’s lead five minutes later with the best goal of the game when he unleashed an unstoppable shot from 18 yards out.

Melksham took a three-goal lead when Jake Sainsbury reacted quickest when a Dark shot rebounded off the post.

In the second half Calne really battled hard to keep themselves in the game and certainly restricted the number of chances for Melksham, but the home team continued to dominate possession.

Melksham scored the last goal of the game with 15 minutes left when Harry Ozut brought down Jake Sainsbury.

Jordan Evans took the penalty, which was brilliantly saved by Andy Windsor, but unfortunately for the keeper, the ball rebounded straight back to Evans for an easy tap-in.

In the final minutes Calne sub Brett Cullen headed just of the target, which would have given the away side some consolation, but there was no doubt that Melksham were by far the better team on the day.
