CORSHAM Town’s interest in the FA Vase came to an end in the first round as they were beaten by a single goal on their trip to Wessex Premier Division outfit Moneyfields.

Lerone Plummer fired the home side ahead in the first half in Portsmouth and that proved decisive as, try as they might after the break, Corsham could not force an equaliser to take the tie into extra time.

The defeat ends the interest of Jeff Roberts’ side in another cup competition, as they were also beaten in the Toolstation League’s Les Phillips Cup last time out.

They face a third consecutive cup contest this weekend, this time in the Wiltshire Senior Cup.

They travel to another Wessex League side, although this one is much closer to home and comes in the shape of Division One basement boys Pewsey Vale.

Corsham are without a win since last playing in the competition, when they downed Purton.
