TROWBRIDGE Town boss Kieran Baggs insists his side’s enviable defensive record is all a matter of concentration.

The Bees kept up the pressure on Senior Division leaders Shrewton United with a 6-0 pounding of struggling Sarum Youth, taking their goals for tally past the half-century mark in just 11 matches this term.

Town remain the only unbeaten side in the top flight, winning 10 of those matches while they have conceded just eight times so far, including clean sheets in three of their last four games.

Baggs said: “It’s all about keeping the lads concentrated. Everyone knows their job and they’ve been doing a good job in defence.

“I didn’t want a drop-off after our big win against Malmesbury in our previous league match and although Sarum have probably been one of the weaker side, it was about keeping the players motivated.

“We had six or seven players out so we changed things up and had two or three U18s in the team who did well."

Dan King weighed in with a hat-trick for the home side, Ryan Nicholls, Nick Ridout and Billy Robinson completing the half dozen.

And while things are going well for the Bees in the league, Baggs is also casting half an eye on the Wiltshire Senior Cup, his side travelling to Sydenhams League Downton in the second round of the competition this weekend.

“It’s a competition we’re keen to do well in,’’ he added. “You can get a good home draw in and it might bring some useful revenue to the club.’’ Shrewton stayed out in front in the Senior Division courtesy of a 7-0 walloping of Vale of Pewsey and Malmesbury Vics are third after a 3-1 win at Ludgershall Sports.

Trowbridge Wanderers clinched their seventh win in 11 matches with a 3-2 success at Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development, for whom Luke Adams scored twice, and Chippenham Park Development were 2-1 winners over Wilts Calne Town.
