DAVE Ferris was left to rue a momentary lapse in concentration as Chippenham Park were beaten at the death by Oldland Abbotonians.

Tom Morgan got the only goal of the Division One encounter for Oldlands with four minutes to go at Hardenhuish Park.

Boss Ferris said his troops were worthy of a point but admitted they paid for failing to play until the final whistle.

“The match had 0-0 written all over it, neither team really dominated for any period or created enough chances to win,” said Ferris.

“We switched off for 30 seconds and conceded a poor goal.

“I think our discipline had gone by that point, the players started moaning at the referee instead of focussing on what they had to do.

“I was disappointed by the result but the performance was OK, although in the last two games now we have been poor in the final third.

"We scored a few goals at the start of the season but that seems to have dried up now.

“It’s a 90-minute game and we were undone by our own inadequacies.”

Park are in FA Vase action this weekend when they host Newport from the Isle of Wight.

Ferris added: "We did well in the Vase last year and we'd love to do so again.

"They play at a level above us in the Wessex league so we know we will go in as underdogs, particularly given our goalscoring record in recent weeks."
