CALNE Town were left feeling severely cheesed off after they were torn to pieces at Cheddar last weekend.

Neurin Jones’ men saw their five-match unbeaten run ended in unceremonious fashion as they were picked apart in Somerset, shipping six goals along the way.

Calne’s Stu Windsor had a goal ruled offside in the opening stages but the hosts’ Sam Jones struck twice in the space of four minutes to put the Cheesemen in control.

Jamie Howson got in behind the Lilywhites defence to score before half-time and in the 48th minute, Jones was celebrating his hat-trick after finding the net to make it 4-0.

The deluge showed no signs of abating and four minutes later, Tom Manning chipped Calne goalie Steve Allison from 20 yards before Ricky Bennett got in on the act when he curled home goal number six.

There was some late consolation for the beaten Lilywhites as Lee Himsworth finished off Nathan Phillimore’s set-piece into the Cheddar area but the manner of the visitors’ defeat remained emphatic.

Calne host Almondsbury UWE next weekend.
