AFC BRADLEY maintained their 100 per cent start to the season in Division Two with a 5-1 over Calne Eagles, which saw them leapfrog their opponents in the early league table and deny Eagles a third straight win.

As clinical as some of Bradley’s finishing was, Calne were left rueing a first-half performance where they found themselves cut open time and time again without providing any real kind of competitive resistance.

There was no sign early on as to how one-sided the contest would become. Both teams looked sharp in the first 10 minutes, but once Bradley’s pacy striker Will Browning gave his side a 12th-minute lead with a neat finish from 12 yards out after latching onto a delightful chip from Will Bayley they went on to totally dominate the half.

Browning scored his second after 18 minutes when he ran from deep to finish neatly past Andy Windsor after being set up by Ben Rogers.

Browning was also involved in Bradley’s third goal 10 minutes later when his cross was adjudged to have been handled in the box by Calne centre back Ned Edney. Dan Mercer made no mistake from penalty spot.

In the last 15 minutes of the first half Bradley’s dominance continued unabated and they added further goals through striker David Sykes who got a brace after assists from Jamie Moth and Mike Ritson.

On both occasions Sykes put the finishing touches to neat passing moves.

The punishment could have been worse for Calne as both Sykes and Bailey both also missed chances to increase their team’s lead 5-0 lead.

In the second half, with the game already comfortable won for AFC Bradley, Calne composed themselves and the contest became the very even affair that would have had been expected before the game kicked-off.

In fact throughout the second half both defences came out on top and the only goal scored was an Adam Welch consolation for Calne in the last five minutes.

After opening their account last weekend with a narrow victory away at Luxol St Andrews Reserves, Mark Hurkett’s Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves side tasted the joy of home comforts for the first time this term.

Up against United FC, Lambrok Road provided the perfect setting for Wanderers to inflict their guests with a third straight defeat.

A first-half double from Ashley Styles was good enough to hand Wanderers a 2-0 victory.
