TROWBRIDGE Town manager Kieran Baggs is trying to manage expectations after a 3-1 win against Corsham Town Reserves saw his team extend their unbeaten start to the campaign.

A brace from Ryan Nicholls in the opening 12 minutes of the contest set the hosts on their way to their fifth win of the season, before a James Vincent strike in the second half secured the victory minutes after the break.

The Bees took their foot off the gas after that and were punished when Corsham got a late consolation goal but Baggs is trying to make sure people don’t get carried away with the good start.

“We are still unbeaten at the minute, and we have had some real tough games,” he said.

“Melksham at their place was probably our toughest game so far, bearing in mind they had three or four first team players playing so it was more like a Western League game, and to come away 3-1 winners from that is probably my most satisfying result of the season.

“A point away at Ludgershall could prove vital come the tail-end of the season.

“The lads responded with those two goals and it probably could have been three or four if we had been more clinical in the first half.

“We saw out the game with little hassle, but if I am being a bit harsh on the lads then we should have seen the game out rather than taking our foot off the gas.

“With the players we have got, everyone expects us to be up and around there with Malmesbury and Melksham and maybe there might be a surprise package like Shrewton, who have started well.

“We have got the expectancy of everyone around us, so it is important that it doesn’t go to the lad’s heads and we just keep on ticking over and see where we are come Christmas time.”

Melksham remain the early pace setters as they completed a 4-1 win away to Sarum Youth.

Shrewton United split them and third placed Trowbridge Town after their 6-1 demolition of Royal Wootton Bassett Town reserves.

Wroughton completed an impressive 8-1 victory over Wilts Calne Town to lift them to eighth.

Vale of Pewsey got just their second win of the season as they beat bottom-of-the-league Andover New Street Swifts 5-3, and Chippenham Park development secured a 2-1 home win over Marlborough Town.
