DEVIZES Town manager Darran Walters blamed slack defending for his side’s 3-0 defeat at home to Chipping Sodbury Town.
In a close first half, a Jamie Wallen own goal was the difference between the two sides just prior to the break.
When the visitors scored three minutes into the second half through David Sims-Burgess, it all but killed the contest before Sodbury wrapped up all three points with a third strike before time.
“To be fair there wasn’t a lot between us in the first half and it was quite a good game of football,” said Walters.
“We just can’t keep defending like we are at the moment and keep giving goals away.
“Ninety per cent of the goals we have conceded this season have come from our own mistakes so we need to sort that out.
“Then we have scored an own goal, a bit of a mix up at the back, and it was a poor goal to give away before half time.
“Within five minutes of the second half the game was over, which was disappointing.
“We had a few chances second half and could have got ourselves back in the game, but didn’t take them and they were well worthy of their 3-0 win.”
Devizes travel to Roman Glass St George, who sit two places below them in the league, on Wednesday night and Walters will be looking for an immediate response.
“I might just shuffle the pack a little bit for Wednesday night to try a few different things.
“You have just got to move on. The games come thick and fast and we have just got to get it right for the next game.”
