DAVE Ferris was pleased to see Lady Luck finally smile on Chippenham Park as they arrested their slump with a late equaliser against Ashton & Backwell United.

Park had conceded 10 goals in two matches heading in to Tuesday’s clash at Hardenhuish Park and Ferris may have been forgiven for fearing the worst when the visitors capitalised on a defensive error and took the lead with just a few minutes on the clock.

But at the death, substitute Adam Shipman put a delivery into the box and the ball somehow found its way into the net to level up the scores and finally break down the Ashton resistance.

“We’ve often complained about not getting the run of the ball but we finally got some luck and it was what we deserved,” said Ferris.

“Adam Shipman has played a pass in towards Ryan Campbell but he’s missed it, it’s bounced a number of times, the keeper has been rooted to his spot, and it’s ended up in the net."

Park bounced back from their 6-1 thumping at Almondsbury UWE on Saturday, in which Robbie Burton netted their consolation goal.
