PEWSEY Vale slipped to their third defeat in as many games as they were swept aside by Romsey Town last weekend.

Lewis Taylor’s side are still missing a clutch of senior players and suffered a further setback heading into Saturday’s first home fixture of the season as first-choice keeper Lewis Oliver suffered a finger injury in the warm-up and had to be replaced by Oli Adams.

After Vale’s Hayden Culliford and Zac Messenger both threatened in the first period, Dan Reynolds cleared the ball from the home area after the break but Romsey crossed back into the danger zone to allow Owen Lock to open the scoring.

Wayne Bound tapped in the visitors’ second before Josh Harvey headed in from a corner to increase their lead.

Warren Macdonald’s looped effort provided late consolation for Vale.
