TWO 1-0 wins for Corsham Town have seen Jeff Roberts’ side become one of four teams level with First Division leaders Chard Town.

A strike from Ben Thomson gave 10-man Corsham a single goal victory over Roman Glass St George on Saturday, ahead of their trip to weekend-leaders Wells City on Tuesday night.

In a tight game with Wells, it was a Matt Jenkins goal that was the difference, as he pounced on a deflected Thompson cross in the second half to seal the points.

“We knew that Wells were going to be handy, which they were, but I thought in the first half, we were a bit flat-footed,” said Southbank chief Roberts.

“The game really opened up in the second half and we took the chance when it came. We’re very tight all over and we just need everybody grafting on the pitch.

“If we can work hard off the ball, then we will be in the mix come the end of the season.

“There is a long way to go and we always said we would see how the first few games would go, but we are happy.”
