ROYAL Wootton Bassett Town were unable to make it into the hat for the FA Cup preliminary round draw as they were knocked out by visiting Bracknell Town.
Star striker Shane Cooper-Clark got both goals for the visitors at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, while Paul Braithwaite’s side finished the game with 10 men following the sending off of defender George Drewitt for a second bookable offence in the closing stages.
Cooper-Clark broke the deadlock midway through the first period on Saturday before drawing a mistake from home goalkeeper Curtis Meare with a long-range strike to double his tally after the interval.
Bassett, meanwhile, were left to bemoan the absence of their own chief goal-getters, Steve Robertson and the suspended Nathan Gambling. Without them, the hosts offered little offensively and never really looked like scoring.
- Braithwaite's side were back in Hellenic League Premier Division action last night as they played host to Ardley United.
