I DON’T know about you, but “that game” at Wembley seems like a lifetime ago, such has been the pace of pre-season.

With all the comings and goings, the high-profile friendlies and the frenzy surrounding a certain media strategy.

Unfortunately that latter bit of news has dominated the club’s pre-season and overshadowed many great things that Lee Power has done over the summer.

The renewing of Anton Rodgers’ contract for a further two years seems to have been the best piece of business done over the summer, as Brendan Rodgers has sent a superb batch of players to Town.

And I don’t mean that in a facetious way. In Anton Rodgers we have a decent footballer, but if he had a different surname, he wouldn’t still be at Swindon Town.

As part of that newfound friendship with Liverpool, we have acquired three new talented faces that will be important this season.

Lawrence Vigouroux enjoyed a superb debut as his penalty save against Bradford gave the players a much-needed kick up the backside to go on and turn the game around.

Kevin Stewart had a quiet first half but after the break he burst into life, while Jordan Williams was easily the most consistent player over pre-season and possesses a Football League manager’s dream, versatility.
