DEVIZES Town joint-manager Darran Walters is hoping that more of his troops will be up for the challenge of attempting to spoil Barnstaple Town’s title party.
Devizes were only able to field a bare 11 as they were beaten 2-0 at Cheddar last weekend and their season ends with a daunting trip to Barnstaple, who have just clinched the Toolstation League First Division crown, on Saturday.
“I think a lot of teams are in the same boat as us at this stage of the season but we’ll get a side together one way or another,” said Walters.
“Barnstaple are worthy champions. They’ve been the best side in the league by a mile all season.
“Going there is going to be really tough but we did give them a good game earlier in the season and they only beat us 1-0 (on March 21).
“We just want to get this one out of the way and try and keep it respectable. You never know though.”
Devizes are certain to be missing first-choice goalkeeper Matt Tilley for the game at Barnstaple next weekend.
