Crown smash eight past Star

Division Four

Although none of the top five clubs in Division four had a league match everything remained exactly the same as it was before the start of play, Bromham (Sunday), AFC Bell, AFC Melksham, Little George and Chippenham West End all missed out but the highest placed team who were in action were The Crown FC who hosted North Star B who had hoped to win for the first time in four attempts.

The Star's run of poor results started a month ago when they lost 3-2 at home to The Crown for whom Jack Fisher scored a hat trick and the Devizes based team completed a league double with a comprehensive 8-0 win.

Nick Buckle set the ball rolling after just eight minute when he combined with Jack Fisher to fire his team in front, Jason Lucas scored an amazing second for the Crown when he ran 30 yards beating a clutch of players before finishing with aplomb. Lucas Headed home a third from the Crown in the 28th minute.

Two minutes later Dan Sloan headed home a Fisher cross and Mark Roach tapped home to make it 5-0 in the 35th minutes. Buckle chipped home number six and Sloan's second of the contest, a rasping strike from 20 yards sent the hosts to seventh heaven.

Jack Fisher who had set up three of the goals finally got on the score sheet himself with a cool finish from a Dean Potter through ball to leave the Crown 8-0 victors.

Rising Sun kicked off their game against Corsham United with only 10 players and withstood long periods of pressure from United who could not find the target and they were made to pay when their hosts took their second half chances to run out 3-0 winners. Damian Plunkett, Chris Burgess and Darren Folkard did the damage for the Riser whose triumph allowed them to seal their first ever league double.

Three goals in each half earned Churchill Arms a 6-1 success over an abysmal Trowbridge Town Supporters Club who succumbed to a number of basis schoolboy errors.

Jamie Bayes gave Churchill the lead with his first goal since his move from Potterne. Robin Gorham second half double made it 3-0 before Peter Barby pulled a goal back for the Town, but it proved only to be a consolation as further second half goals from Gorham who scored another two to take his tally to four for the game and a second from Bayes condemned the Town to their 14th defeat of the campaign.

Old Road Tavern can smell a victory is just around the corner but at the moment they just can't quite taste it as again they suffered a narrow defeat with the Wanderers beating them 2-1. Wanderers went ahead on 15 minutes when James Starr headed home a Steve Jackson corner. In the 52nd minute a massive punt up field from keeper Scott Carrick fell to Domonic Shepherd who lobbed home number two, his last contribution for a while before he starts a suspension.

Old Road rallied and with seven minutes left the set up a thrilling finale when Ryan Tyrell's cross was headed into his own net by Ollie Turner, but Wanderers defence stood strong to deny the Tavern a late equaliser.
