NORTH Star A moved level on points with Semington Rovers at the top of the table after they hammered Foresters Arms 13-1.
That result, coupled with Semington's inactivity following the postponement of their game against Christian Malford, saw the Star move into pole position by virtue of a better goal difference.
Darren Legg started the ball rolling for North Star and Ronnie Kallmeier doubled the lead before the first half floodgates opened. Tommy Ludford added a further two, as did Michael Bell and Mark Dolman to give the Star an 8-0 lead at the break.
The scoring continued in the second half, with Dolman adding two more to take his total to four for the game. Mark Sharrett bagged a brace and Tommy Ludford scored again to complete a hat-trick. Kane Udeh replied for the losers who have now lost four games on the spin.
Chippenham Police boosted their hopes of avoiding the drop with a hard-earned 1-1 draw at Atworth United, who were made to pay for a series of missed chances as they were held to a draw by a plucky Police side.
The young Atworth team took some time to find their rhythm and after misses by Ashley Wheeler and Sean Fordham they took the lead after 40 minutes when Jack Adcock latched onto a header from Paul Burns to calmly slip the ball under the keeper after the Police back four were left flat footed.
After the break Atworth went for the kill as they looked to build on their slender lead, but solid defending by the Police saw them soak up the pressure as the conditions worsened. When Atworth did find away through goalkeeper Chris Fairburn and no-nonsense defending by Adam Davey kept them at bay until a lapse in concentration by home defender Lawrence Brill allowed in Jason Roberts who chipped home to steal a point for the boys in blue.
Atworth substitute Stuart Holland missed two glorious opportunities to win the game for the home side but the police team held out for a point.
North Bradley missed out on the chance of joining Semington Rovers and North Star A on 21 points and a three-way tie for top spot after they suffered their first defeat in six outings when they lost 4-2 against Coyote FC.
Scott Askew returned to form for Coyote ahead of this weekend's Wiltshire Sunday Cup semi-final against Nine Elms United as he netted a first half double to give Chris Carr's team a 2-0 advantage after 45 minutes.
Booker Woodford, who starred for Trowbridge Town on Saturday, scored the third for Coyote and Nathan Flower, on his return from injury, added number four. Stuart Powell and Andy Colebrook were on target for the losers.
Hullavington's game at Potterne was washed out.
