AFC Bell moved level on points with Bromham (Sunday) at the top of Division Four as the Devizes based side made the most of Bromham's inactivity.
Bell didn't have everything their own way to a 3-2 win and they were fortunate to take both points from a stubborn Old Road Tavern who currently occupy the wooden spoon position with just three points all season. Bell took the lead courtesy of debutant Dave Young, but instead of capitulating Tavern stunned the high flyers and goals from Steve Gillingham and Ryan Tyrell gave them a surprised but deserved 2-1 advantage Bell fashioned an equaliser through Lloyd Sartin and with 10 minutes remaining Tyrell who had earlier been a Tavern hero turned villain when he stuck out a hand in the area which resulted in Bell being awarded a penalty which was duly converted by Chris Underwood to give Bell hard earned win that kept their 15 match unbeaten run intact.
AFC Melksham consolidate third position as their strikers put on another fine display against Corsham United as they romped home to very convincing 9-1 victory. Gareth Evans scored the opener on seven minutes and two minutes later Matt Russell added a second.
Evans scored again on 18 minutes when his shot deflected in off Lloyd Davis. Wayne Bailey made it four with a delightful lob from 25 yards to bring the first half scoring to an end on 44 minutes. The second half saw Evans add two late goals to take his tally for the game to four, Russell also added another as did Wayne Bailey who was denied a hat trick when he rattled the cross bar minutes from time.
Andy Harrison completed Melksham's nine when he dribbled past three players before rifling home a contender for goal of the season. Melksham hope to see the return of top scorer Luke Ballinger against Wanderers next week to bolster the attacking line up that has scored 18 goals in the last two games. Alex Mitchell was on target with Corsham's consolation.
Chippenham West End Club returned from Calne with another two points in the bag after they beat North Star B 7-0 to avenge their earlier 3-2 loss. Gavin Aplin put the bal in the net early on for the West End only to have his effort ruled out for offside, Aplin then missed out on the fun and failed to find the score sheet as Scott Nash, Carl Britton, James Mulhall and Tristan Roberts gave West End a 4-0 lead before Britton stole the show with the last three goals to take his tally for the game to four and his total for the season to 11 as he looks to earn his teams golden boot award.
Trowbridge Town Supporters Club arrested a run of four defeats with a 2-1 triumph over The Rising Sun, who took the lead on five minutes via Steve Foord's fifth goal of the campaign and this was after the Town had seen Marc Sheppard hit the post from 20 yards. Peter Barby headed the Supporters Club back on level terms in the 35th minute with his first goal since November. John Richardson won the game for Kevin Williams side when he headed home what proved to be the winner in the 42nd minute.
The games at West Lavington between Churchill Arms and The Crown and Wanderers game against Little George FC, which was to be held at Leighton Sports Ground, Westbury were both postponed at the eleventh hour due to waterlogged pitches.
