CALNE Town suffered their second successive defeat as they were bested at promotion-chasing Cribbs last weekend.

Simon Gardner’s side threatened first through Reece Allison, who hit the post with a fierce header, and the scores remained level through to half-time.

But the home side broke the deadlock just after the hour mark before an attempted clearance from the Lilywhites back-line fell straight to a Cribbs player, who slotted home to make it 2-0.

When the hosts got in behind once again, Steve Allison rushed out of his goal but was adjudged to have brought down an opponent, allowing the Bristol men to net their third from the penalty spot.

Gardner’s men did win a spot-kick of their own with six minutes to go and Stuart Windsor converted the penalty but it was little more than a consolation for the visitors.

Calne go looking to bounce back to winning ways when they host local rivals Devizes Town on Good Friday (kick-off 1pm).

The Lilywhites also don’t have far to travel when they go to Chipenham Park on Easter Monday (kick-off 3pm).
