PEWSEY Vale manager Nick Maggs cut a frustrated figure following his side's 1-1 draw with lowly Romsey Town.

The Ball Road outfit dominated proceedings in the opening 45 minutes with several chances going begging.

Vale had to wait until midway through the second period to break the deadlock when Tom Ritchie charged into the Romsey area before firing home.

But the hosts switched off after taking the lead and the visitors levelled matters before going close in the dying stages to snatching a surprise point.

The result came following a battling performance in a 2-0 defeat at second-placed Tadley Calleva on Saturday, while Maggs takes his side to league leaders Team Solent this weekend.

"It was very frustrating against Romsey," Maggs said. "We totally dominated the first half, missed numerous chances - to be honest it should have been done and dusted by half-time.

"But that has been the story of season since Christmas - we just haven't been able to get the ball in the back of the net.

"We finally got the goal in the second half, but then we switched off and let them back in and to be honest we could have ended up with a defeat.

"But I'm hugely frustrated that we didn't end up with three points."

Having been satisfied with the performance at Tadley, Maggs says that he will be missing a wealth of experience as they make the trip south to face the league leaders.

Four of the Maggs' first team starters - Gareth Robb, Ricky Franklin, Warren McDonald, Lewis Brown - are away at a wedding, while Adam Field (groin) and David Cope (ankle) are injury doubts.

"We have the players to bring in from the reserves, but what we are missing in experience," Maggs said.

"When you are playing a the league leaders having that experience helps, so we just have to go there and give it our best shot."
