HOLT FC are the new leaders of the Trowbridge Windows & Conservatories-sponsored Trowbridge League Division Two after their picked up a crucial three points from their meeting with former table toppers Heytesbury who, after dropping five points from their last two outings, could end up missing out on an automatic promotion spot.

Neither team were able to force an opening in the first half, but it was Heytesbury who took the lead on 47 minutes, Leigh Kennedy seizing on a mistake in the Holt defence to play in Bradley Edwards who put his team in front.

Heytesbury’s lead was short lived and less than two minutes later Holt restored parity Andy Donald heading home a corner that made it one-piece.

Holt took the lead on 53 minutes, Donald’s 20-yard drive doubling both his and his teams tally for the afternoon.

Holt put the result beyond doubt in the 61st minute, Natty Mills finding the net to make it 3-1 following good work from Jed Osborne.

The victory means that Holt have a slender one-point advantage over their opponents but having played two fewer games they look a good bet to finish top of the table especially after their fierce rivals White Horse dropped points at Trowbridge Rangers.

Referee Luke Rudman had an excellent game in the middle.

White Horse FC dropped two vital points in their battle with Holt to finish as Division two champions, despite taking a two-goal lead Allan Clarke’s side had to settle for a point following their thrilling 4-4 draw at Trowbridge Rangers for who it was their final league match of the campaign.

White Horse were 2-0 inside 10 minutes through goals from Jordan Gullis and Stuart Barber who scored with a superb overhead effort after that Clarke’s men self destructed and trailed 3-2 at the break, Jordan Field and Cameron Thomas squaring things up before a second from Field gave Rangers the lead.

Paul Beavers scored from the penalty spot to get White Horse back on level terms, before Cameron Thomas held his nerve to score from the penalty spot and hand the lead back to Rangers.

White Horse were able to salvage themselves a point thanks to a second from Paul Beavers whose second of the match meant that honours ended even at 4-4.
