WTH one win apiece from their two league encounters this season Bradford United and Hilperton United met at Culver Close in what was the first outing for the former in the CDP Supply-sponsored, Centenary Remembrance Cup.

Although they opened the scoring, things then went downhill for Anthony Ottavanio’s side as Hilperton fought back to claim a 5-3 win their first in three attempts.

Theo Sing’s penalty gave Bradford the lead but they found themselves 3-1 down at the break to goals from Neil Hulford who scored twice and Craig Sheppard.

Phil Little got Bradford back in the game, but almost immediately Hilperton struck their fourth, Jake Samuel making it 4-2.

Hulford completed his hat-trick for 5-2 before a second penalty from Sing reduced the arrears, however it was a case of too little, too late as Hilperton held out for a deserved success despite finishing the game with 10 men following the dismissal of Kieran Fereday.

Second-placed Castle Combe hosted leaders North Bradley and although Bradley may not have been at their best, a 2-0 victory saw them maintain their 100 per cent record by collecting a fourth straight win that puts them six points clear of Combe and makes them firm favourites to finish top of the table and receive a free passage into the semi-finals.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, Pete Spong gave Bradley the lead midway through the second half and Reuben Spong wrapped up the victory with Bradley’s second 15 minutes from time.

Warminster Town Reserves picked up three points from their game with Trowbridge Town Reserves without kicking a ball.

With their pitch at Woodmarsh passed fit the Bee’s manager Ralph McCaldon was let down by his players with a number pulling out at the last minute leaving him short for the game which meant the match was awarded to Warminster by default.
