HAVING already booked their place in the A&B Cup Final, Holt FC were hoping to reach their second final of the season when they visited second division stablemates White Horse FC for their Chantry Digital Ltd-sponsored Knockout Cup semi-final showdown at Leighton Sports Centre.

With both teams chasing the Division Two title and Holt already boasting a 2-1 success over their hosts from earlier in the season, they went into the cup tie as slight favourites, but ended up losing out as a Kane Scott goal deep into extra time earned Allan Clarke’s White Horse side a 1-0 win.

After neither side were able to break the deadlock in 90 minutes the tie went to added time and with the clock ticking down it was looking as if penalties would be needed to find a winner.

That was until Scott pounced to grab the winner. Holt’s keeper Rafal Korbik, who had been superb all game, produced an excellent stop to keep out Marek Mistra’s header from a Russell Dyer free kick, but the ball fell kindly for Scott who slide in to slam the ball into the roof of the net.

White Horse will play either Freshford United or Potterne in the final.
