A 7-3 victory for North Bradley at home to Hilperton United saw them replace Castle Combe at the top of the CDP Supply–sponsored, Centenary Remembrance Cup table.

Bradley are currently living up to their tag as favourites for the competition but although their winning margin looked impressive the result wasn’t as one-sided as it would appear.

Bradley fell behind to a Neil Hulford goal but quickly recovered to lead 4-1 at the midway stage of the first half. Dean Ranger restoring parity, before Reuben Spong put Bradley ahead, a second from Spong and a rare John Baker goal looked to put them out of sight.

Hilperton responded well with goals for Bradley King-Taylor and a second from Hulford.

Hilperton had the better of the second half but couldn’t conjure up a fourth goal and once Carl Davies added a fifth for Bradley then took control of things again.

Two more goals for Reuben Spong took his tally for the game to four and sealed victory for Ben Howe’s side.

Semington Magpies and Warminster Town Reserves fought out the first stalemate of the Remembrance Cup, Magpies having to overturn a half-time deficit to claim a 1-1 draw.

Warminster led at the break through a Liam Snook own goal which was wiped out by Sean Meer’s 55th-minute strike.

Of the two sides it was Magpies who had the best chances to go on and win the game but Meer, Dan Rimmer and Snook were guilty of missing what would have given their side there first win in the competition.
