MANAGER Dave Ferris hopes that his Chippenham Park players caught a glimpse of some of the attributes necessary to be a promotion-challenging side in the Toolstation League First Division during their clash with high-flying Cribbs on Tuesday.

Park came out on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller, with Jordan Coulter, Ryan Campbell and Charlie Norman grabbing the hosts’ goals, but the Hardenhuish Park chief hopes to use their midweek defeat, which signals the end of a nine-match unbeaten run, as a learning experience.

“We want to challenge in this league next year and hopefully we’ll learn from playing against Cribbs,” said Ferris.

“There are little things that we can pick up. Some of them are things like getting more players into the box when we’re attacking.

“We finished in the top half of the table last year and we’re eighth at the moment. We have the nucleus of a good side and we’re looking to push on.”

On Saturday, Park ground out a 1-0 victory at bottom-of-the-table Portishead Town thanks to Mark Robinson’s 22nd goal of the season.

They go to Almondsbury UWE this weekend.
