DAVE Ferris believes Chippenham Park were more than worth the three points after they edged to victory on their trip to Chard Town.

After a goalless first period, Will Giles put Park in control when he found the net early in the second half.

Chard responded and levelled the scores but the visitors were not to be denied and Mike Clement’s strike sealed the win.

Boss Ferris said: “I’m ecstatic. Chard is a difficult place to go.

“They played down the slope in the first half but we set our stall out to keep things tight and hit them on the break.

“It went well and we restricted them to long-range efforts and the majority of them were off target. Our keeper, Joe King, was pretty much redundant.

“It was 0-0 at half-time and I think that was thoroughly deserved.

“The second half was fairly even early on but we continued to work hard and got our rewards through Will’s goal.

“We then went in search of a second goal as we knew one wasn’t going to be enough.

“Chard then had a bit of a break and got the ball in the box, which hit someone on the knee and went in.

“We were disappointed as they didn’t look like scoring and I have to give my lads credit as we kept going forwards and Mike scored to put us 2-1 up.

“We then saw the rest of the game out and deserved to get the win.”

Park are away at Warminster tomorrow and host Cheddar on Saturday. They are also on the road at Calne Town next Wednesday.
