MELKSHAM Town climbed back to the top of the table with a narrow win at home to Sherborne.

Gary Higdon got the only goal of the game at the Conigre, lashing home after just eight minutes.

Melksham boss Perrin is not getting carried away by his team’s lofty league position and was simply happy to bounce back from the FA Vase disappointment at Bradford Town.

“It’s lovely for the club and the players but our objective is to finish in the top six,” said Perrin.

“I am delighted with the resilience and resolve we showed. We could easily have felt sorry for ourselves after the Bradford game.

“We deserved to win the game and we maybe missed one or two decent chances to make it a bit more comfortable.

“But credit to Sherborne, they defended very well, although I can’t really remember them having too many chances themselves.”
