DAVE Ferris is all too happy to subscribe to the Hardenhuish Park dressing room mantra of ‘the harder you work, the luckier you get’ after watching his Chippenham Park side overcome Radstock Town on Tuesday night.

Both sides had chances in the first half, with Radstock striking the woodwork twice, but Park eventually claimed their third win in four games thanks to goals from Will Giles and Mark Robinson, leaving manager Ferris delighted.

“‘The harder you work, the luckier you get’ was scribbled in the dressing room and I certainly subscribe to that idea,” said the Park chief.

“We dominated the first 20 minutes and then Radstock dominated probably the next 40, and it would have been easy for my boys to curl up into a ball and say that it wasn’t going to be their day.

“But as we proved in games against Corsham and Wells, we will play for 90 minutes and as their captain said to me walking off at the end of the game, they ran out of steam.

“We have one or two players that can change a game on their own but the rest are prepared to roll up their sleeves and work their cotton socks off - not every player is going to be a Ronaldo, so to speak.

“We’ve got guys like Will Giles - Adam Shipman was similar for us last year - who are unsung heroes but always show a fantastic amount of enthusiasm.”
