PEWSEY boss Nick Maggs said the lack of a cutting edge up top was the difference as his side were beaten at home by New Milton Town.

Morgan Turner and Rob Woorner struck in either half for the visitors, with Pewsey only finding the net through a late consolation from captain Gareth Robb.

Maggs said: “It was very tight and there wasn’t a lot between the sides.

“The one difference was in the attacking third. We just didn’t get our game going and struggled for chances all afternoon.

“Their movement was a lot better and they looked a lot brighter in attack.

“At half-time I told the lads the final ball was poor. We were getting beyond the defence but the delivery just wasn’t there.

“That’s the difference between us being a mid-table side at the moment and a team that can push towards the top five.

“It’s disappointing because Saturday was a chance for us to climb nearer the top of the table but maybe this season that is where we are.

“But I’m hoping to rectify that soon and am looking to bring in a new striker. He’s previously played at Hellenic Premier Division level, so it will be a good signing if we can get it done.”

Eighth-in-the-table Pewsey are at home again on Saturday and host Ringwood Town, who Maggs’ side will leapfrog with victory.

Maggs added: “It’s a big game and if we want to finish top of that mini league in mid-table we need to beat them.”
