DEVIZES Town joint manager Justin Webster conceded his team were beaten by the better side after falling at home to high-flying Welton Rovers.
The visitors were lucky to edge ahead in an even first half, with Chris Peck heading the opener two minutes before the break.
But it was all one-way traffic in the second period and Ryan Allen made the points safe on the hour mark.
Webster said: “It wasn’t a good result but Welton are a very good side.
“I think that was their ninth league win in a row and they’re unbeaten in 13.
“We started well and for 42 minutes it was 0-0. They had more of the ball but their chances we limited.
“To go into half-time 1-0 down was a bit deflating.
“They dominated the second half and had lots of possession and got the second goal.
“We have no complaints about the result.”
Devizes will be up against it again on Saturday as they welcome league leaders Barnstaple Town to Nursteed Road.
