WINSLEY defeated near neighbours and fierce rivals Dog and Fox Ashley to open up a three-point gap over their closest challengers Corsham Centre at the top of the Auto Business Solutions Ltd Chippenham League Premier Division.
Winsley took full advantage of the Centre's cup involvement by beating the Bradfordians, fighting back from two goals down to claim their 11th win of the season, with a little help from the Dog's Dom Khaekphoj and goalkeeper Aaron Harford who both played a massive part in all of Winsley's goals.
A double from Mark Gerrish between 25th and 27th minutes put the Dog ahead and in control until the 43rd minute when Khaekphoj needlessly conceded a penalty, which was duly converted by Neil Kirkpatrick.
Within a couple of minute of the restart Winsley were on level terms when Mark Robinson helped Waleed Bakali's corner into his own net. Winsley took the lead after 70 minutes when goalkeeper Harford palmed a Paul Ranger free kick into the net and Winsley sealed the win 10 minutes from time when Khaekphoj was at fault again for another penalty, which again was fired home by Kirkpatrick.
Biddestone Social's third win on the spin has moved them up to third position and for a second week running their game was saved when a non appointed official took over the whistle. This time it was Biddestone secretary Brian Strange who had the job of keeping order.
Liam Fullham continued his fine form in front of goal when he put Rovers ahead after 10 minutes. Biddestone drew level on the stroke of half-time when they were awarded a penalty which Rovers were unhappy about and it was left to Jamie Lyons to equalise from the spot.
advertisement Gary Banks lobbed Biddestone Social ahead in the 55th minute but four minutes later Rovers were back on equal terms thanks to Fullham's second goal of the game. With 15 minutes remaining Biddestone's Rob Pocock bundled the ball home to make it 3-2 and when Kris Beasley volleyed home from 18 yards in the 79th minute the game was as good as won. With just six minutes left the villagers capped their five star performance when Jamie Lyons netted from 10 yards for his second goal of the game to wrap up a 5-2 win for Biddestone.
Sherston Town took the lead against Maud Heath Sports with Jake Pegler's first goal for the club and at half-time his goal was all that separated the sides. However it was not enough to prevent them from losing a third game on the spin as Maud Heath hit back to win 3-1, thanks to second half strikes from Darren Holcombe, Ricky Summers and Steve Allison.
Frozen pitches at Meadow Lane and Southwick Sports meant that Westbury Rangers A were unable to host Holt and bottom of the table Trowbridge Harriers missed out on a game with Bradford News.
