SIMON Gardner hailed a complete Calne Town performance as his team beat title-chasing Wincanton Town at Bremhill View last weekend.

The Lilywhites gained revenge for their dramatic 5-4 defeat at the hands of Wincanton back in August thanks to two goals from Stuart Windsor, who slotted home late in the first period before pouncing on a loose header from the visitors defence three minutes into the second half.

Calne did have Ben Trafford red-carded in the 66th minute for tangling with an opponent in a ‘last man’ situation but nothing could take the shine off for Gardner.

“In the past, we’ve played well for 45 minutes and then not been at the races for the second 45, so we really spoke to the lads about carrying in on in the second half,” said the Calne manager.

“But we were excellent in both halves and I don’t think they could have had any complaints about the result.

“Picking a man of the match was just too hard because I could have given it to any of the players, including the subs that came on.”
