CALNE Town ended a run of seven straight defeats with a draw in an entertaining contest at Almondsbury UWE.

That is despite conceding three penalties at The Field.

Tom Boakes put Calne ahead early on - the first time Town had found the net since early November after three games without a goal.

Almondsbury restored parity from their first spot-kick and although Dave Brigues put Calne back in front, the hosts were level again before the break.

Two more penalties put Almondsbury in the ascendancy but strikes from Brigues and Neurin Jones earned Calne their point.

Boss Simon Gardner said: “It was good to get a few goals again.

“At 4-2 down we looked a bit at sea but they made a few changes probably thinking the game was won.

“We started playing the better football after that and got back into it, and actually had a few chances to get the win in the end.”
